If you're going to be investing in a new truck for sale, make sure you get your money's worth. There are a lot of additions you can include that will improve performance and make life easier for you. Once you have your new truck, here are four accessories you'll want to add to the package.

1. Protect the Bed

If you plan on using your truck to its fullest potential, you've got to take steps to protect the bed. This is particularly true if you plan to haul things. The first thing you need to do is add some bed liner protection. You can choose from a variety of bed liners including spray-on and drop-in liners. Either variety will ensure that your truck bed is protected against all types of damage. A quality bed liner will even protect your bed against corrosion caused by exposure to rain and snow.

2. Check the Spare

When you purchase new truck, be sure to check the spare. While most full-size trucks come equipped with a full-size spare tires, some mid-size trucks come equipped with an emergency donut, which isn't going to get you very far, especially if your tire goes flat while you're on unpaved roads, or you need to travel a long distance to the next repair shop. If your truck is lifted, you're going to need some running boards, especially if you're going to be transporting young children or people with mobility issues. Lifted trucks can be difficult to get in and out of without assistance. If your truck is going to be exposed to road salts or other deicing materials, you'll want to avoid chrome running boards. The road salts and deicing agents can cause chrome running boards to corrode. Make sure the running boards on your new truck have a solid, slip-resistant surface. You'll need the added traction during inclement weather.

4. Increase Your Lighting

If you're going to be working in your truck in the dark, you'll want to add bed lighting. The additional lighting will allow you to see what you're doing once the sun goes down. This is particularly beneficial if you're going camping or your current project has you working long into the night.
