Top Four Leading Producers Of Cars By Nation And Quality Ranking
When looking at cars for sale, you are often going into the situation blind. That means that you do not know much about a vehicle besides the make and model. It is important to thoroughly research a vehicle before you decide to buy anything, but since that requires a lot more research than most consumers are willing to do, cars are purchased at random. To make this process less time-consuming, more educational, and more beneficial to you, the following top four vehicle manufacturers are rated by quality and country of origin.
China
China ranks number one in vehicle production. However, it ranks fifteenth in the world for exported units. Its vehicles are still not seen as something of quality, and hence, have not quite made it into the U.S. auto market yet. Considering that its main auto manufacturing brand is Changan, and few Americans have ever heard of it, you are not likely to run into any vehicles that China produces anyway.
United States
Coming in at just under half of the number of cars produced by China, the U.S. ranks second as the producer of the most vehicles by country. Companies like Ford and General Motors are the highest producers of (mostly) American-made vehicles. (Some components and parts are still produced in foreign countries, although the vehicles themselves are designed and build entirely in the U.S..) In fact, these two particular companies are simultaneously responsible for virtually all of the cars produced in this country. Most of these vehicles are viewed as mid-grade quality, especially when compared to cars from competing countries such as Japan.
Japan
Japan slides into third place as a leading producer of automobiles. Its two top producing companies are Toyota and Mitsubishi, followed closely by Nissan and Honda. (In 2016 alone, Toyota produced over ten million vehicles, pushing Japan into first place that year for auto production.) The cars from Japan have the highest quality ratings and best resale value, making them invaluable to consumers.
Germany
Germany takes fourth place in vehicle unit production, but second place in quality ratings. Companies like Volkswagen, BMW, and Audi are extremely popular with Americans for the unique designs and features provided in the cars made by these companies. Some of the most iconic cars in America are German-designed and German-made, which speaks to the efforts of Germany to create cars people want, and cars people want to drive.
South Korea
If you had asked car manufacturers forty years ago if South Korea could make cars, they would have probably laughed in your face. South Korea has now advanced their auto production beyond anything the competitors thought possible, to the position of fifth in the world for auto production and sixth for quality. (India, for some reason, beats South Korea in quality rankings, but you are unlikely to see any Indian cars here in the U.S. That is why South Korea makes this list, and India does not.) Companies like Hyundai and Kia lead the way for South Korea's vehicle production.
So, What Are You Going to Buy?
Being well-educated about cars is important if you are going to get something that will last, look the way you want it to, be affordable, and/or retain some resale value. You will have to define for yourself which of these features are most important when buying a car. For example, do you buy a Mitsubishi for sale because it has high quality ratings, or do you buy a Volkswagen because it is an iconic vehicle with almost as high quality ratings? Maybe you would prefer the all-American vehicle because you want to buy only American. The choice is up to you, but at least now you have the knowledge to choose intelligently.
